D’Addario Jazz Select Saxophone Mouthpiece

Following the success of the Reserve Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece, D’Addario launched the Select Jazz Mouthpiece for alto saxophone in 2014. Drawing its inspiration from coveted vintage feel and tone, the Select Jazz Mouthpieces are milled, not molded. Using D’Addario’s precise computer-controlled mouthpiece-making technology, they deliver a sound and quality that surpasses all expectations.

“D’Addario has brought a level of engineering expertise to mouthpiece making that is unrivaled in the industry,” says Kevin Garren, D’Addario Woodwinds Product Specialist. “Thanks to these innovations, the Select Jazz Mouthpiece offers that nostalgic, vintage sound.”

D’Addario’s Select Jazz mouthpieces offer a full, focused, and fat sound with great projection and are available in the three most popular facing models: 5, 6, and 7. Select Jazz Mouthpieces combine vintage design with modern production techniques, providing classic sound and response with even intonation across the entire range of the saxophone.

Here’s what artists are saying:

“This is a great-feeling, warm-sounding mouthpiece!” –Jaleel Shaw, New York City Jazz Saxophonist

“The Select Jazz mouthpieces are burnin’. They have incredible flexibility from the altissimo register down. This mouthpiece truly recreates the feeling of the vintage hard rubber mouthpieces that are so hard to find, yet with a modern intonation and projection.” –Will Vinson, New York City Jazz Saxophonist

“I am very impressed with this mouthpiece, especially in the upper register. Where a Meyer 5M has a tendency to thin out up high, the new Jazz Select mouthpiece allows the player to maintain an even tone quality throughout all registers…it also responds instantly in the lower registers. I have no reservations recommending this mouthpiece to anyone—new or veteran.” –Dr. Dan Goble, Western Connecticut State University; New York Philharmonic

“Honestly, this new alto mouthpiece is probably the best thing to come along since the 1950’s. I own two already, and I’m now selling my old Meyers. –Paul McGinley, Chicago Jazz Saxophonist
